MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Frontier Communications has suspended its operations in portions of
South Carolina, starting at noon today, September 13, as Hurricane
Florence approaches. Repair and installation technicians, contact center
employees and others will not be executing any work activities during
this time.
Areas currently affected by suspended services are:
Fairfax
Georgetown
Jackson
Walterboro
Lake City
Myrtle
Beach
Sumter
Bowman
Winnsboro
Areas remaining open until further notice are:
Abbeville
Laurens
Simpsonville
As soon as conditions are safe and allow access, network and facility
assessments will begin and a determination as to when full operations
can resume will be made.
“Our concern now is the safety of our employees, their families, and our
customers,” said Melanie Williams, Frontier’s Senior Vice President of
Operations, South Region. “Florence will damage power facilities and
down lines and trees, which will affect the speed of communications
restoration. We will have additional resources, both people and
equipment, from other Frontier locations and will work closely with the
state’s emergency personnel, power companies and local communities to
restore service as quickly as possible.”
Once service repairs begin, Frontier will follow its standard protocol
for service priorities – public safety and health, businesses and
residential customers. Customers who want to report service troubles, at
any time, can call 1-800-921-8101 or access Frontier via Twitter,
@askFrontier.
