March is Women’s History Month
NEW HAVEN, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
This month, as the nation celebrates women’s history and today’s
visionary female leaders, Frontier Communications (NASDAQ:FTR) is
marking the occasion by recognizing the company’s own leading women,
including those holding key roles in Frontier’s East Region, comprising
New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.
Frontier cultivates and encourages female leadership across the company,
from technicians in the field to executives in the boardroom. Senior
executives include Frontier Chairman and CEO Maggie Wilderotter and East
Region leaders: Kira Howell, Vice President of Marketing; Cyn Stehouwer,
Vice President of Operations; Angela Christian, Assistant Vice President
of Human Resources; and Elena Kilpatrick, Vice President and General
Manager of Frontier’s Pennsylvania operations.
Mrs. Wilderotter says companies need to look at their talent pipelines
and make sure they have gender diversity in senior positions, especially
those with profit-and-loss responsibility.
“Diversity brings out the best in decision-making,” she said. “Men and
women bring different things to the table that can really increase
competitive advantage. Women speak up about issues they care about. For
example, we launched our Frontier
Secure cyber-security services because feeling safe online is
something our female board members and leadership felt strongly about.”
Nearly 5,920 women work for Frontier Communications from coast to coast.
More than 570 are in positions of management, including 32 in senior
management.
Frontier’s East Region female executives bring a wealth of expertise,
experience and leadership from different businesses and industries,
noted Wilderotter, and they contribute their talent and time to
community initiatives as well. Their backgrounds and current
responsibilities include:
-
Howell is responsible for all marketing activities throughout
Frontier’s East Region, including brand awareness, customer
acquisition and retention strategies, go-to-market plans, and new
product introductions. She joined Frontier in 2011 and most recently
was Director, Corporate Acquisition and Brand Marketing. Her career
includes account management, media planning, data analysis and new
media channels at Synapse Group, Inc. in Stamford. Prior to joining
Frontier she was Vice President of the Advertisement and Media
Divisions of Main Street Direct, a multi-channel acquisition and
retention marketing company.
-
Stehouwer is responsible for developing new areas for growth and
improvement for the East Region. Working with other region leaders,
she is focused on maximizing growth and profitability. She manages all
operations functions including budget spending, labor and material
efficiencies, and new areas of technology and customer service.
Critical parts of Stehouwer’s role are managing performance against
operating plans, driving service improvement, and leading the Plant
Service Centers (Dispatch and Assignment) for the region. Stehouwer
has 28 years of industry experience and joined Frontier in 2010 as
Director of Operations. She led the successful conversion to Frontier
of the Verizon operations in 13 states, and was an integral part of
the Connecticut AT&T acquisition, guiding the system, network, video,
customer, employee and operational transition.
-
Christian is responsible for all Human Resources activities in the
East Region and for all HR issues related to Information Technology
and Engineering throughout the company’s footprint. Her career at
Frontier includes software design management, management of network
operations call centers, plant service centers and residential and
business call centers as well as field experience as a General Manager
in the Greater Rochester (N.Y.) Area.
-
Kilpatrick is responsible for field operations, residential and
commercial sales, and every aspect of the customer experience in
Frontier’s Pennsylvania territories. She previously served as Area
General Manager of the company’s Northeast Pennsylvania region, and
with the predecessor company Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises (CTE)
in a variety of senior sales management roles. Prior to CTE,
Kilpatrick was affiliated with Bell Atlantic Nynex Mobile holding
management positions in the retail, channel development and product
management areas. Kilpatrick serves on the Greater Scranton Chamber of
Commerce, the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry
and the Northern Tier Work Force Investment Board. Kilpatrick
previously was the External Vice President for the Central Bradford
Chamber of Commerce, served on the Advisory Board for the Great Valley
Technology Alliance (currently TecBridge) business plan competition
and is a graduate of Leadership Lackawanna’s Class of 2005.
At Frontier, we give women opportunities to take on new challenges and
encourage them to go beyond their comfort zones,” said Mrs. Wilderotter.
“We are very proud of all leaders at Frontier who have created their own
career paths and excelled, and we’re thrilled to have the women of our
East Region leadership team helping to steer our course.”
