STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Frontier Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:FTR) Chairman and CEO Maggie
Wilderotter was one of the “Top 25 Most Powerful People in U.S. Wireless
and Wireline” according to FierceWireless, the daily industry
news monitor.
In her introduction of the honorees, editor-in-chief Sue Marek noted,
“When we compiled this list, we looked for individuals who we believe
have a unique mix of leadership and business acumen [and] who are not
only leading their organizations but are also exerting great influence
over the entire industry.”
According to FierceTelecom editor Sean Buckley, one reason
Mrs. Wilderotter made the cut: “Maggie Wilderotter continues to follow
the mantra of taking bets on what can help her company scale. Late last
year, she made one of the biggest bets of her 11-year career [at the
company] with Frontier's $2 billion deal to acquire AT&T's wireline
assets in Frontier's home state of Connecticut.
“While not nearly as big as its transaction with Verizon (NYSE:VZ) in
2010, Frontier's deal with AT&T does give it a larger presence in
Connecticut, and it enables Frontier to expand as a facilities-based TV
provider by taking over AT&T's (NYSE:T)
U-verse service in the state.”
Mrs. Wilderotter joins a list that includes Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook,
Apple’s Tim Cook, Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Larry Page of Google and Reed
Hastings of Netflix, as well as the CEOs of AT&T, Verizon, Sprint,
CenturyLink, Comcast and DISH Network.
Maggie Wilderotter became Chairman and CEO of Frontier Communications in
January 2006. She joined the company in November 2004 as President and
CEO and a member of the Board. Earlier, she was SVP of Worldwide Public
Sector at Microsoft, and President and CEO of Wink Communications.
Mrs. Wilderotter serves on the boards of Xerox and Procter & Gamble. She
is a member of President Obama'sNational Security Telecommunications
Advisory Committee, which she chaired from October 2012 to November
2014. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Business
Roundtable and Co-Chair of The Committee for Economic Development, a
nonprofit, nonpartisan, business-led, public policy organization, and
