DALLAS, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Frontier Communications (NASDAQ: FTR) recently announced that 2012
network enhancements and capital investments for its operations
in Pennsylvania totaled more than $25.5 million. Frontier offers
broadband, digital phone service, satellite television service, Frontier
satellite broadband, FTR Energy Services, customer premises equipment
(telephone systems, support for commercial businesses and e-911
applications), Ethernet, Dedicated Internet Access, data center
services, and web security/data back-up through the Frontier Secure
suite of services.
“We’re proud of our commitment to Pennsylvania,” said Paul Quick, Vice
President and General Manager of Frontier’s Pennsylvania operations. “In
2012, we made significant investments to deliver faster broadband speeds
to more than 40% of our customer base. We aggressively deployed new
equipment and augmented devices in 100+ network locations, enabling us
to offer scalable and flexible network solutions to our business
customers and faster, more reliable broadband speeds to residential
customers.”
For business customers, the company’s capital expenditures focused on
increasing the availability of advanced high-capacity services such as
Metro-Ethernet, providing speeds of 1 Gbps or higher. Frontier’s network
also delivers Dedicated Internet Access, an IP-VPN service that rides
over an MPLS network, and point-to-point services. “Businesses are
looking for solutions that differentiate them from their competitors and
that also give them a competitive advantage. Frontier specializes in
designing converged networks that enable businesses to use a single
network to carry voice, video and data services and which may allow them
to disconnect other networks and reduce costs,” added Quick.
“Healthcare, education, manufacturing, banking, tourism and
entertainment are among the sectors that can realize immediate benefits
from the simplicity and scalability of Frontier Ethernet and other
advanced solutions.”
For residential customers, Quick said that Frontier increased bandwidth
and network capacity. “We have made broadband services available to
99.9% of our Pennsylvania customers. Our investments in 2012 allowed us
to deploy next-generation technology, offering speeds up to 25 Mbps
download/2 Mbps upload. We can also now provide enhanced broadband
services to customers who reside further from our central offices,”
noted Quick. “Our residential customers can get the speeds they need to
stream high-definition videos, run multiple devices, do online gaming
and surf the net without lag.”
Quick commented on the company’s philosophy, noting “Frontier’s core
values are to put the customer first and to be locally engaged in the
communities we serve. Each of our Pennsylvania market areas is led by
a General Manager responsible for the overall customer experience. All
Frontier services are installed and maintained by the company's 100%
U.S.-based work force, and more than 575 employees serve customers
throughout Pennsylvania. We’re proud of our commitment to the Keystone
State and very excited to highlight the benefits of recent network
enhancements and capital investments.”
