STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Frontier Communications Corporation (NYSE: FTR) today commented on the
findings in the May 31, 2011, press release issued by The World Health
Organization (WHO)/International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC)
that cell phone use may cause brain cancer.
Based on this WHO/IARC release, Frontier Communications wants to remind
consumers that landline telephones are the safer choice for voice
communications. According to Steve Crosby, Senior Vice President for
Frontier, “The WHO release states that cell phones may cause
brain cancer. Remember when the Surgeon General reported that cigarette
smoking may cause lung cancer? Our position is that customers can
take precautions so they do not wind up as statistics. Since
approximately 80 percent of mobile phone calls are made within 10 feet
of a landline phone, reduce risk by using your home or business phone
whenever possible.”
Notes Crosby, “At Frontier, we are also proud that our landline and
broadband networks offer reliability, superior uptime access, security
and value. For example, in an emergency Frontier has the only E-911
network that can pinpoint your location and address in seconds. Because
wireless phones are not associated with a fixed location or address,
wireline phones have a distinct advantage in helping first responders to
find you in an emergency.”
Landline phone service also works when electricity goes out, adding
another safety net for critical communications. Frontier is proud to
offer many voice packages to fit a customer’s lifestyle and budget –
including lifeline service for those that cannot afford regular service.
Call Frontier today at 877-462-8188 to make sure you have the safest and
most secure voice communications for you and your family.
